LOCHMAIER, Michael (d. 1499). Parochiale curatorum. Hagenau: Heinrich Gran for Johannes Rynman, 20 August 1498.
Chancery 4o (192 x 140 mm). Collation: A-B6; a-o8 p-s6.8 (A1r title, A1v blank, A2r table; a1 blank, a2r text, s8r colophon, s8v blank). 151 leaves (of 152, without a1 blank). 34 lines and headline, double column. Section letters printed in the margins. Types: 4:155G (title, headings, headlines), 8:80G (text). Three- to five-line initial spaces, with printed guide-letters. Rubricated with red Lombard initials, capital strokes and underlines. (Intermittent light dampstaining mostly to blank margins, old repair to blank margin of m1, a few small wormholes to blank margins at beginning and end).
Binding: contemporary German blind-tooled leather over wooden boards (some wear, the spine partially perished): the covers divided into two concentric frames and a central panel, the outer frame filled with a hunting roll, the inner frame with scattered impressions of flowers and of a foliage tool, the central panel composed of vertical rows of a plaited knotwork roll, title stamped on front cover, an Augsburg binding (Kyriss shop 88 Jagd Rolle IV); evidence of one clasp; without the ten center- and cornerpiece bosses.

Third or fourth edition of this work on the rights and duties of pastors. Lochmaier was a professor of canon law and theology in Vienna and a canon of the cathedral of Passau. He was active as a preacher in both cities. Heinrich Gran's first signed book was dated 1489 and in 1497 he began printing for Johannes Rynman, a relationship which lasted until 1523.
