In L'Avenue au parc de Voyer-d'Argenson à Asnières, a lone figure is represented, barely visible in the distance and sheltered by the lush canopy of trees which line the avenue. There is a rhythmic quality to the composition, contrasting the procession of tree trucks with the horizontal brushstrokes that constitute the ground. Van Gogh's strong palette creates a wonderful luminosity, as sunlight dances across the treetops and filters down through the branches.
