for malagan
The female standing with the right hand holding the pendulous right breast, the left holding the wing of a flying fish carved before the abdomen, a further flying fish below, two flying fish at the back, two birds carved to each side, their beaks holding between them a circular medallion, the large imposing head with a bird's head emerging from the mouth, tusks joining the nose and large ears which have pierced lobes, the headdress with three pierced crests about the coiffure of wood sticks, feather-like projections to the sides with medallions at their bases, painted in red, black and white, the eyes with inset shell opercula, the carved clam shell base on tapered support
