Lot Essay

In this piece Dirck van Gameren (Utrecht 1707-1771) combined a breadbasket with an oil and vinegar stand. If the pierced plate,in which four cut-glass bottles are placed, is taken out, the basket can be used seperately. During the second half of the 17th Century comparable sets were made for example in Amsterdam by Wijnand Warneke, Svante Stridbeck and Johannes Schiotling.
