Probably painted by Adolphe Thomasse(1850-1930). Duvelleroy published a catalogue: Les chiens de Thomasse, with the head of a dog painted on wood costing 100F. On 15 May 1990,lot 219, Christie's South Kensington sold a larger (5.3in.) but similar fan painted with a Pekinese dog also signed Duvelleroy, but not signed Thomasse. This is the smallest fan of this type to appear on the market
