The subject of the present work is probably Flossie Burnett who modelled for Orpen in this period. The figure bears some similarities to a 1910 drawing known to be of Flossie, as well as the figure in another drawing The Breeze (1910, Victoria and Albert Museum, London) which was reproduced as part of a set of photogravure prints in 1913.
