Album of ninety-three albumen prints, sizes from approx. 8 x 10.3/8 in. or the reverse to 9 x 11.3/8 in. or the reverse, one two-part panorama, 20.7/8 x 20.7/8 in., one six-part panorama, 8.7/8 x 66¾ in., many numbered, titled and/or signed Bonfils or P. Sébah Phot in the negatives, mounted on thick card, some titled in pencil in margins and many with descriptive text labels handwritten in ink loosely inserted between the pages, green leather (partially disbound), gilt title Egypt & Palestine. to cover, 13.1/8 x 17.1/8 in.; with a quantity of loose albumen and gelatin silver prints (approx. 33)

Lot Essay

A fine album including photographs of tombs, temples, pyramids, ruins, river-scenes, the Wailing Wall, harbour views, Cleopatra's Needle, churches, citadels, mosques, Sphinxes, street-scenes, general landscape and many ancient sites in Cairo, Jaffa, Jerusalem, Lebanon, Beirut, Constantinople and many other locations.

Both the panoramas are views of Constantinople, the two-part is titled Bird's eye view of Pera and the Bosphorous from the fine tower in Stanboul and the six-part is titled Great Panorama of Constantinople from the Galata Tower - Pera or european quarter - Bosphorous - Santari[?] - Princes islands - Seragho Point - Golden Horn and Stamboul
