Lot Essay

Varied album containing views of Canton, Shanghai, Peking, Hong Kong, Malaya including Penang and Singapore. Individual subjects include opium-smokers, an execution, sweet-vendors, harbour views, junks, race-courses, shooting trips, a banyan tree, a burial ground, the interior of a wealthy merchant's house, a Chinese shoe-maker, natives outside a hut with hanging skulls in Sarawak and various colonial buildings.
