A CONTINENTAL GILT-METAL AND MOTHER-OF-PEARL NÉCESSAIRE
probably Dutch, circa 1725/1735
Belt clip attaching three strings of gilt-metal mesh hung with three gilt-metal and mother-of-pearl nécessaires; one, in the middle, rather long, and two short ones at the sides; the larger case, with hinged cover, containing six implements a folding pair of scissors, a folding knife, mother-of-pearl bodkin, nail-file and others, the smaller case on the left containing a spindle, and the third one fitted to contain a thimble; the mother-of-pearl panels carved with exotic bords, rocaille and masks; in fitted gilt-stamped brown morocco case.
