A SWISS VARI-COLOUR GOLD SNUFF-BOX
Geneva, circa 1780, with prestige marks including a maker's mark 'DMC'
Oval gold box, the cover, sides and base engine-turned with a panels of horizontal flutes centred with oval reserves of frosted gold chased in four-colour gold with trophies of Love, Fidelity and Harvest within laurel wreath borders, surrounded by trailing foliage chased in four-colour gold, the four reserves on the sides divided by scrolling pilasters, the rims of cover and base chased with frosted gold bands bordered by stylized acanthus leaves
