Geneva, circa 1780, with prestige marks resembling to the Paris date-letter 'K', to the charge mark of Julien Alaterre and the discharge mark of Julien Berthe, maker's mark rubbed including a second letter 'B'
Oval box, the cover, side and base panels with vertical intertwined gold flutes on an opaque green enamelled ground, the cover centred with an oval enamel plaque of a peasant boy protecting two young birds in his hat against a dog at his side, within a white enamel border, the white enamelled side pilasters adorned with translucent green enamelled festoons hung from red beads, the sablé gold borders decorated with white enamel bands intertwined with translucent red and green enamelled laurel and berry garlands
