Circular box, the independent cover, sides and base set with panels of translucent blue enamel scattered with gold paillon stars on a concentrical wavy engine-turned ground, cover and base centred with oval portrait miniatures, the miniature on the cover of a young lady with white fichu, beige shawl and blue bandeau, the miniature on the base of a lady with powdered high-piled hair in fur-bordered cream coloured silk gown, the two-colour gold miniature frames and box mounts stamped with stylised acanthus on a matted band flanked by reeding, the interior lined with dark composition
