Paris, 1777/1778, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache and inventory number 2, maker's mark rubbed
Slightly tapering cylindrical etui of oval section, both sides of cover and base with octagonal panels of translucent steel blue enamelling on an engine-turned peaked ground, the side dividers enamelled with translucent green leaves, red berries and blue drops and flutes on a matted ground, the rims similarly enamelled, the top of the cap chased with a gold rosette, the burnished matrix engraved with the coronet of an Earl surmounted by date 'MARCH 20th 1908' and initials 'A·B' below
