This 'gong'-shaped washer or tangle xi was most probably inspired by a Kangxi version of the same form covered in a peachloom glaze. Such an example is part of a very rare set of eight vessels for the scholars' desk from the Jingguantang Collection, sold in these Rooms, 3 November 1996, lot 557.

Cf. a yellow glass washer of similar form in the Osaka Museum, illustrated in the Catalogue, Art from the Qing Dynasty, no. 213, p. 67.
