A VERY RARE IMPERIAL GILT-BRONZE AND ENAMEL-DECORATED COMPASS-SUNDIAL

Made at the Imperial workshops, the horizontal style sundial is set with a champleve enamel hour ring embellished with a gilt-bronze openwork floral scroll segment above the bubble level and enamelled compass, and across from the folding gnomon support which is further decorated with floral details, the compass points of cobalt-blue glass beads set atop the adjustable screw feet, fitted within the original zitan case (jadeite bead a replacement)
