Lot Essay

This poster depicts Anna Pavlova (1881-1931) in one of her popular solo performances; The Dragonfly. Originally by Richard Strauss, the music for this divertissement was arranged by Fritz Kreisler and Schön Rosnarin and first performed by Pavlova on her 1914-15 American Tour. The choreography and costumes were designed by the ballerina herself.
