A VERY RARE PAIR OF LARGE AMBER VASES AND COVERS

Each portion entirely carved from a solid piece of amber, each side of the flattened baluster-shaped vases well carved with a central lotus bloom flanked by acanthus leaves, below a large taotie mask and above geometric designs, each flared foot, waisted neck and knopped-finial cover carved around with plantain leaves and key-fret borders, the vases with pairs of lion-mask loop handles suspending loose rings (bases drilled, nicks to extremities, one ring handle restuck)
