Lot Essay

The Hemis Kachina is usually selected as the principal character in the Niman Kachina Dance or Home-Going Ceremony. "It is one of the most appropriate kachinas for this farewell as it is the first kachina to bring mature corn to the people, indicating that the crop is assured," (Wright, 1977, p. 88).
