Lot Essay

"Dora Tse-Pé's works are created with a high degree of precision. She expresses a strong sense of determination that helps her succeed. The exceptional quality of her pottery attracts widespread interest.

Popovi Da, Tony Da and Dora were early innovators in San Ildefonso pottery. She experimented with duotones, sgraffito and inlaid turquoise and gemstones. Some of her pots are re-fired to create sienna rims. She also advanced the use of glittering micaceous slips.
Dora recently was honored as one of the 'Masters' of Indian Market," (Schaaf, 2000, p. 227).
