Of flattened round form, reflecting the shape of the full moon, the box and cover finely carved with prunus and calligraphy
3½ in. (8.9cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

The inscription may be translated as: never be influenced by worldliness, the pen reflects one's own inner spirit,one's emotion is like the circle of the moon, look into the teaching of Mencius [Mengzi] and appreciate the truth, the other side inscribed "it seems as if happiness pervades the whole atmosphere", signed Yun Shan, the date reading yi mao qing he yue, "fourth month of the year 1735"
