New York: McCloughlin Bros., 1889. 4to, 14pp., original colorful pictorial glazed paper covers, stapled as issued, color and black-and-white illustrations in the text. (Covers unstapled from the text, otherwise in good condition). PRESENTATION COPY FROM ANNIE OAKLEY TO A YOUNG GIRL: At the top of page 1 the famed sharpshooter has inscribed the book to a child friend and namesake: "Annie from Annie Oakley," in dark ink.
Accompanied by a fine silverprint photograph portrait of Anna, c.1910.
Provenance: Miss Anna Donaldson (d.1974), Highfield Lane, Nutley, New Jersey, to whom the book was inscribed. Annie Oakley resided with her husband, Frank Butler, in Nutley in the early 1890s. Anna's father, John L. Donaldson, was the Nutley station agent of the Erie Lackawana Railroad at that date. -- The present owner.
