[POWERS, Hiram, 1805-1873, American sculptor.] A small archive of letters addressed to Powers in Florence, Italy, by a number of contemporary artists and others, including: BIERSTADT, Albert. ALS, New York, 5 April 1870, 3 pages, large 8vo, requesting details of the construction of Powers' home, and its decoration: "I am anxious to build a small house on that plan it might be a good plan to engage one or two workmen to come over here," expressing his desire for a visit from the Powers -- FRENCH, Daniel Chester. ALS, Concord, 24 October 1876, 2 pages, 8vo, acknowledging photographs of "Endymion," and requesting more copies, as well as "Cupid" and "Cupid and the Swallow" and adding that "I miss my Florentine friends and Italy " -- HEALY, George P.A. ALS, Paris, 22 October 1855, 1 page, 8vo. Introducing a fellow artist, S.R. Gifford -- CRANCH, C.P.
