FIRST EDITIONS OF TWO PAMPHLETS RELATING TO THE OPPRESSIVE TAXATION OF THE CARIBBEAN SUGAR TRADE. Littleton, a Barbados planter advocating the reduction of tariffs, describes the local Caribbean situation in detail. During the 17th century, the colonization of the Caribbean became one of England's most lucrative international endeavours and plantation owners such as Littleton sought to keep up their own profits. The second pamphlet argues the side of government.
