Lot Essay

With its inset marble top, refined Neo-Classical ornament and part-fluted legs with turned acanthus-sheathed and toupie feet, this console is characteristically Florentine. An extremely closely related example in a Private Collection in Milan is illustrated in G. Morrazzoni, Il Mobile Neoclassico Italiano, Milan, 1955, Tav. CXCI.
