Lot Essay

Etienne Meunier's maîtrise is apparently unrecorded. He was, however, a member of the celebrated dynasty of menuisiers that included Jean-Baptiste Meunier (maître in 1739) and Antoine and Antoine-Luc (both maître in 1782).

A virtually-identical fauteuil de bureau was sold Christie's New York, 27 May 1999, lot 305 ($12,000).
