by Mathieu, the brass-mounted walnut case with plaque signed A Layet, the lid rising to reveal on the inner surface red chamois leather lining with label of the original contents of the set, the upper tray containing three Liston knives, other knives and scalpels, all with ebony handles, a trepanning brace with accessories signed Mathieu, male and female catheters, bone forceps, shears, knives, elevators, chisels, a chain saw and other items, when removed revealing the lower compartment with dental instruments comprising a tooth key with horn handle, four claws, an elevator, extractor and other instruments, a large coiled tourniquet, various syringes, needles, a cauteriser, a Portain's aspirator in box and other items, the case with two inset side brass handles, the lock signed Mathieu Paris, with two clips and hooks -- 22¾in. (58cm.) wide
