inscribed on the silvered compass dial TROUGHTON & SIMMS LONDON, the telescope with rack and pinion focusing, spider's web adjusters, located on the upper limb with bubble level by twin clamps over the vertical half-circle, with silvered scale and vernier, tangent-screw fine adjustment, the compass with edge-bar needle and clamp, the horizontal plate with bubble level and cross bubble over the chamfered silvered scale with twin verniers, single adjustable magnifier, tangent-screw fine adjustment with clamp, on similarly adjusted four-screw tripod mounting, in the original mahogany case -- 12¼in. (31.1cm.) wide
