A 19th-Century oxidised and lacquered-brass Everest-pattern theodolite,
of small size, signed Elliott Brothers London, the telescope with rack and pinion focusing, ray shade and dust slide, the axis with pair of vertical quadrants mounted on an axis and limb, with two verniers, bubble and cross-level with tangent-screw adjustment, raised on a pillar over the horizontal circle, with three verniers, magnifier, tangent-screw fine adjustment and clamp, raised on a tripod stand with three adjustable screw feet, with plummet, trough compass, additional eyepiece with shades, and other items, in the original fitted mahogany case with brass carrying handle -- 8¼in.
