signed on the telescope CARY 181 STRAND LONDON, with rack and pinion focusing, lens hood and graduated bubble level, the axis located on two supports over the horizontal plate, with compass box, the silvered dial with edge-bar needle and jewelled cap, level and cross-bubble, the enclosed silvered vertical circle with positions for two magnifiers, vernier, scales, tangent-screw fine adjustment, the chamfered horizontal circle with silvered scale, twin verniers, positions for two magnifiers, tangent-screw fine adjustment with clamp, on a three-screw tripod attachment with additional tripod triangular mounting, in the original mahogany carrying case -- 9½in. (24cm.) wide; and an 18th Century French brass sector signed a Lesperance A Paris -- 13¼in. (35cm.) long opened
