The name Penfolds has become an icon. Whatever your opinions of it's wines there is no denying it it's importance in the Australian wine industry. Since 1844 this producer has set the pace that the others have followed and until recently some way behind. It's cuurent release wines from the 1996 vintage have again proved beyond doubt what sheer quality it is capable of. One of the main turning points ofcourse was one man's dedication to supreme quality. The man is Max Schubert and the wine is called Grange. Since 1951 this wine has won acclaim the world over and comfortably sits amoung the vinerous greats.

Penfolds. South Australia Level: into neck Two part moulded and embossed Penfolds bottle. Re-capped, corked and topped up at the series 4 Penfolds Red Wine Clinic in 1996. Signed label on rear of bottle from Penfolds, only bottles in sound condition receive such a label.
Tasting note: Very rich, clearly of good quality. M.B.
