BEN HUR, 1959
Judah Ben Hur's first screen-worn costume, a wheat-colored caftan with elaborate gold threading and detailing around an elongated V-neck opening with pronounced vertical gold stripes throughout. Costume was worn actor Charlton Heston in pivotal scenes including when the roof tile gives way and crashes to the street below narrowly missing Messala (for which he is imprisoned and taken as a slave). Lot includes a vintage color lobby card. Ben Hur received the Academy Award in 1959 for Best Picture.
