Manson and Mrs Clarke respectively, thanking them for their contributions to a biography he is writing, the Manson letter with original envelope (creased on folds).
Promisory note, signed 'Hablot Knight Browne' and 'Walter Geoffrey Robert Browne', London, 20 August 1873, promising to pay Robert W. Dunnett £20 six weeks after that date, with impressed seal.
With an autograph letter from the watercolourist George Fripp regarding a volume of Thackeray's letters and a note from Stanfield to George Jones of the Royal Academy regarding adopting subscriptions.
