THREE IVORY NETSUKE
Unsigned, Edo Period (19th century)
An ivory study of a rat among an amalgam of objects from the takaramono including Daikoku's tsuchi [hammer], tama [sacred gem], kakuregasa [hat of invisibility] and a kagi [sacred key], eyes inlaid in dark horn (minute chips); a netsuke of a frog trapped in an amalgam of lotus leaves and bud (minute chips); and another of two rats among coiled rope, eyes inlaid in dark horn
