Edo/Meiji period (19th century)
A large wood pine cone opening in half and revealing Jo and Uba standing on a rectangular base fitted with a small drawer, the interior of the cone inlaid with butterflies in ivory and shell, details in gilt, with signature Ikko on an ivory tablet; and a stained ivory study of two sculptors carving the head of a Buddhist guardian, signed on the base Ryukei in a rectangular reserve
