AN AIKUCHI WITH GURI MOUNTS
Unsigned, Edo Period (19th Century)
The blade honzukuri, iorimune, shallow torii-zori with chukissaki, choji-midare hamon of nioi, chu-maru boshi, o-suriage nakago, the ura chiselled with a dragon, 14¾in. (37.5cm), in its finely ribbed black lacquer saya, the upper part ishimeji, all mounts ensuite of guribori chiselled with scrolls in the manner of the Takahashi family, comprising silver fuchi-kashira, koiguchi, kurikata, uragawara and kojiri, the kozuka and kogai of shakudo, the latter carved with kiku, gilt menuki formed as umajirushi, 19th century
