AN IRON tsuba BY YOSHIHARU, A LARGE NANBAN tsuba AND A KINAI tsuba
Edo period (17th/19th century)
The first a large nanban tsuba in the shape of a spider's web, decorated on the face in silver with four shishi and on the reverse with four of the takaramono within a key-fret border, 9.4cm; the second of mokko shape, the iron plate with boar's-eye piercings lined with silver, the plate engraved with a running wild boar beneath a tree by a river, signed Yugaga for the design, with a kao, engraved on the reverse of the tsuba, signed Yoshiharu, 9.2cm; and a smaller circular tsuba, pierced and carved with chrysanthemums, signed Echizen no ju Kinai saku, 7.6cm.
