A pair of Spode two-handled vases and covers
Early 19th Century, one with uppercase iron-red script mark and pattern number 1166, impressed wheel mark and 6 or 9 to base
Of shouldered form and tapering octagonal section with everted rims and spreading feet, the handles formed as embracing gryphons, the domed covers with eagle finials, painted with bouquets and scattered flowers including roses, poppies, harebells, cowslips, irises, narcissi, morning glories, hibiscus, pansies, lilies, tulips on a blue-ground gilt with scale-pattern and with mon reserves (both finials with chips and some pieces lacking, rim to one cover chipped, very slight rubbing to gilding)
