Circa 1760, the contemporary pewter cover inscribed J.C.S.E/1.7.60.
Painted in manganese, blue, yellow, green and iron-red with a stag and a hound flanked by flowering shrubs between concentric blue line borders (crack to base extending up one side, slight glaze flaking)
