Lot Essay

This piece has many features in common with the dish in Padua, Museo Civico, illustrated by Paride Berardi, L'antica maiolica di Pesaro, fig. 85, and there ascribed to the Painter of the Planet Venus. Both the handling of the musculature of the bodies and the treatment of the trees display the same mannerisms.
