Lot Essay

First modelled by Falconet, after Boucher, in 1757.

See Pierrette Jean-Richard, L'Oeuvre Gravée de François Boucher, dans la Collection Edmond de Rothschild (1978), fig. 337, where the relationship between the model and the engravings by Boucher and Louis-Martin is explained.

A similar example and its pendant from the Elizabeth Parke Firestone Collection were sold in our New York Rooms on 21 March 1991, lot 122.
