2° (580 x 360mm). PRINTED ON VELLUM. Engraved table of the dynasty of Napoleon, 36 hand-coloured double-page tables, 18 with engraved maps. (The vellum sheets slightly wrinkled). Bound in crimson morocco 'à la cathédrale' by Schauye, covers decorated with a central panels enclosed by pillars and bases, the corners decorated with green and red onlays, outer borders tooled in gilt and blind, central panel bearing the arms of William I of Orange Nassau, King of the Netherlands, spine gilt in five compartments, wide raised bands, lettered in one compartment, decorated in three, one with cypher of King William I, watered silk endpapers, front pastedown with morocco label 'Examplaire unique sur velin' (joints slightly rubbed and cracked). Provenance: William I, King of the Netherlands (1772-1843); Leonard Hartley (armorial bookplate).

A magnificent, apparently unique vellum copy, of Las Cases's geographical tables, especially bound by Schauye as a presentation copy to William I, King of the Netherlands. Many of the tools and the particular construction of the cathedral form of the binding mirror the work of Joseph Thouvenin, on a binding of La Henriade (P. Culot, Relieurs et reliures decouvrées en France à l'époque romantique, Brussels 1995, no.45).
