St. Amant with jockey up, on a racecourse

St. Amant belonged to Leopold de Rothschild, in whose colours he is shown with Kempton Cannon up. The two horses in the background are in the colours of the Duke of Westminster and the Duke of Portland; those do not link with any of St. Amant's wins. The horse was by St. Frusquin out of Lady Loverule and was trained at Newmarket by Alfred Hayhoe. It has been suggested by the National Horseracing Museum that the scene is probably set at Newmarket.
