A Meissen figure of a Map-seller from the 'Cris de Paris' series
Circa 1745, the decoration perhaps slightly later, indistinct blue crossed swords mark
Modelled by J.J. Kändler, in buff hat with a blue band, purple jacket and breeches and black shoes with blue bows, standing holding an unfurled map in his right hand and a tied scroll in his left hand, an oval box under his left arm and carrying a chest of drawers and a black package straped to his back, before a tree-stump on a mound base applied with flowers and foliage (map, hands and scroll restored, restoration to face, hat and edges of jacket, slight chips to chest of drawers and flowers)
