Circa 1745, blue crossed swords marks, Pressnummer 44 to clock and 25 to stand
Modelled by J.F. Eberlein, the front painted with Harlequin and Columbine in a wooded landscape vignette within a waisted gilt panel reserved on a ground of gilt scrolling foliage beneath the clock dial flanked by gilt rocaille and green palm branches and surmounted by Cupid and Venus scantily draped, the sides similarly painted with Commedia dell'Arte figures in wooded landscapes within recessed gilt-edged panels surrounded by gilt scrolls terminating on four gilt scroll and foliage feet, the stand painted with figures at discussion in wooded landscapes within similarly recessed panels surrounded by gilt and iron-red scrolls, the corners moulded and gilt with shells between borders of pendant gilt foliage and C-scrolls, the top with a raised quatrefoil panel of gilt diaper ornament and with puce and gilt strapwork panels to the corners, the reverse with chinoiserie figures on a diaper and scroll support in puce camaieu, the German eight-day timepiece fitted with a brass dial with matt centre, silvered chapter ring and blued steel hands (some minor damage and restoration to palm branches, slight chips to Venus' hair and posy and small chip to top left and right hand side and minute chip to right front corner of stand, some very minor rubbing to gilding)
