In the Louis XV Style, By Krieger, Paris, Late 19th Century
With a serpentine shaped top above a frieze drawer, the lock stamped MON KRIEGER, AMEUBLEMENT, PARIS on slender cabriole legs, each headed by a foliate clasp, on foliate sabot
31½ in. (80 cm.) wide; 29¼ in. (74.5 cm.) high; 19¾ in. (50.2 cm.) diameter

Lot Essay

The history of Maison Krieger of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, which was taken over about 1880 by Damon et Cie. , is discussed in D. Ledoux-Lebard, Le Mobilier Français du XIX Siècle, Paris 1989, pp. 396-7. Antoine Krieger inherited the firm from his father-in-law in 1856.
