The raised superstucture with a pierced three-quarter brass gallery above a Vitruvian scroll, with a bevelled glass door below, with mirrored shelved interior, flanked by a galleried shelf to each side, the lower part with a Vernis Martin decorated panel door, flanked by a pair of curved glass doors, on square tapering legs with vine encrusted thyrsus, with a shaped galleried shelf, on fluted toupie feet

Lot Essay

With its painted vignette it relates to that of a Louis XVI style cabinet illustrated in an early 20th Century trade catalogue entitled Meuble d'art (pl. VII. No 149) issued by François Linke (d. 1946). Following his success at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle Linke opened premises in the Place Vendôme in addition to those established in the 1880s in the Faubourg St. Antoine.
