A French scarlet-tortoiseshell and brass marquetry ebonised bureau mazarin, 19th century with elements possibly of an earlier date
Of small size, the rectangular top inlaid with premier and contra partie, with central kneeling figure beneath lambrequin flanked by masks, birds and grotesques, containing seven drawers of bowed outline about a central fall front compartment, with squirrels and stylised foliate inlay, on square tapered legs joined by flattened stretchers with similar brass and scarlet tortoiseshell inlay, on back feet
25½in. (65cm.) wide, 30¾in. (78cm.) high, 18¾in. (47.5cm.) deep
