An Elkington silver-gilt plated centrepiece and garniture, circa 1880
In the Egyptian taste, comprising: a lozenge-shaped mirrored surtout de table; with a raised bowl on stand above; flanked by a pair of conforming dishes on stands; and a pair of six branch candelabra; decorated overall with hieroglyphics and stylised foliage, further Egyptian motifs including sphinx and falcons, representing the sky-god Horus, variously hallmarked
The surtout -- 26½in. (67.3cm.) long, the central dish -- 9½in. (24cm.) high, the side dishes -- 7¼in. (18.4cm.) high, the candelabra -- 25¾in. (65.5cm.) high
