The case modelled as a bookcase surmounted by an urn with serpent handles, flanked by figures of a classical male and female reading, on stepped base cast with a relief frieze of amorini emblematic of the Arts and Sciences, the white enamel Roman dial (restoration around winding holes) signed Ls Mallet H DE M D D'ORLÉANS, steel spade hands, the twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on bell -- 18½in. (47cm.) high
