The case framed by four pillars on mahogany base and under a later perspex cover, with chute to the top for falling balls dropping into a revolving cradle and exiting via a cylinder below, impelling a single train movement with inverted lever escapement, with silvered Roman chapter ring and recessed gilt centre with plaque signed Thwaites & Reed, with signature plaque numbered 997 out of an edition of 1000 to the underside of base -- 11in.
